San Guillermo National Park is located in the northwest of San Juan Province, established in 1998, covering an area of 160,000 hectares. It was established to protect the wildlife in this area, which is a gathering place for the Argentine wild vicuña and guanaco, with the largest numbers in the country, which need enhanced protection.

Within the national park, there is a large area of ​​bushy shrubs, forming endless grasslands, providing favorable conditions for the breeding and growth of vicuñas and guanacos. Since the establishment of the national park, under strict control, the wild vicuña population has grown significantly, with a livestock number of up to 7,000, and the number of guanacos also reaching 5,000, making it an essential place in Argentina to appreciate the essence of the country’s wildlife.
