Plaza Mayor is located on the island of Trinidad, Cuba, and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1988. Most of the buildings near the central square were built from the 18th to the 19th century, during a time when the sugar and slave trade thrived in the region. Many wealthy merchants constructed these buildings, which have now been mostly transformed into museums.

Most of the colonial houses in the area are topped with red tile roofs. Walking in this square, it feels as if time has flowed back to that period. The traditional cafes and shops around the square add a classical touch to this nostalgic atmosphere. Plaza Mayor is one of the oldest central squares in Cuba and is now a major tourist attraction, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
