Subotica is located in the northern part of Vojvodina, on the border with Hungary. It is the northernmost city in Serbia, the fifth largest city in Serbia, the second largest city in Vojvodina Province, and the administrative center of the North Bačka District.
Subotica is a charming modern city, with many buildings in the city center decorated with the famous Hungarian Zsolnay ceramics, adding a unique charm to the city. Some of the most representative buildings in the city include the Jewish Church, Subotica City Hall, Reyh Palace, and the City Library building. Designed by architects Komora and Jakab, Subotica City Hall is the largest of its kind in the Vojvodina region. The Subotica people rebuilt the new building on the site of the old City Hall and spent a full two years completing the interior decoration. The Jewish Church in Subotica is one of the earliest buildings to use concrete and steel structures.
Near Subotica is the famous Lake Palić, with hotels, villas, sports facilities, artificial beaches, and a zoo, making it a popular tourist destination. Every summer, the “Palić International Film Festival” and various cultural and artistic festivals are held here.
