Rēzekne is located 242 kilometers east of the capital city Riga, at the intersection of the Moscow-Riga and St. Petersburg-Warsaw international railway and highway. It is the central city of Latgale region in eastern Latvia. The city is an important economic, historical, and cultural center of the Latgale region, and is also the seventh largest city in Latvia.
