Siem Reap – Siem Reap Travel Guide in Cambodia

Siem Reap is the provincial capital of Siem Reap Province in Cambodia, located about 311 kilometers north of Phnom Penh and 152 kilometers from the Thai border. It is a charming tourist city in Cambodia.

One of the world’s seven wonders, Angkor Wat, is the most famous attraction in the area. It consists of palaces, temples, gardens, and castles, representing the peak of Khmer classical architectural art. The five pointed towers arranged in the shape of a five-petal lotus flower symbolize the five peaks of Mount Meru, while the central tower symbolizing Mount Meru in Hindu mythology is particularly impressive. Another highlight in the area is the Cambodian Cultural Village, opened in 2003, which showcases a miniature of Cambodian landscapes and famous historical buildings, representing unique villages of cultural heritage from different periods, local customs, and dance performances including lively folk dances and humorous plays that have won applause from visitors.

The attractions not to be missed include the Royal Palace of King Sihamoni, the Old Market, high-end jewelry stores and handicraft shops selling Cambodian specialties, the beautiful Tonle Sap Lake, and the Angkor National Museum opened in 2007!
