Bangladesh Taj Mahal – Bangladesh Bangladesh Taj Mahal Travel Guide

The Taj Mahal Bangladesh is located 30 kilometers northeast of the capital city Dhaka, in Bangladesh. It is a replica of the historic monument Taj Mahal in India and was completed in 2008. This Taj Mahal was invested and constructed by Bangladeshi film director Ahsanullah Moni at a cost of 58 million US dollars over a period of 5 years.

The construction of the Taj Mahal Bangladesh began in 2003, but Moni had the idea of building this structure as early as 1980 when he visited the Taj Mahal in India. In order to fulfill his dream of replicating it, he visited the original site six times. As many people in Bangladesh are living below the poverty line and cannot afford to travel to India to see this famous landmark, Moni’s idea of building the Taj Mahal was to enable his fellow countrymen to fulfill their dream of visiting this iconic monument. The replica structure is built in a 1:1 scale, identical in size to the original. It used marble and granite imported from Italy, diamonds imported from Belgium, and 160 kilograms of bronze to construct the dome. With the help of machinery, the construction was completed within five years.
