Chongjin, as an industrial hub, supports North Korea’s industry and is therefore busier compared to the tranquil and beautiful Pyongyang and Mount Myohyang. This is another developing side of North Korea. Chongjin (English: Chongjin, Korean: ???) is the capital of North Hamgyong Province in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the third largest city in North Korea, and an important industrial city in the north of North Korea. Chongjin is located at the mouth of the Lancheng River in the southern part of North Hamgyong Province, facing the Jingcheng Bay of the Sea of Japan to the east. It is bordered by Roson City to the northeast, Funing County and Maoshan County to the west, Jingcheng County to the south, and Haeju City to the north. The area is approximately 5,000 square kilometers (including counties). The urban population is about 490,000. The climate in Chongjin is cold in winter and warm in summer, with an average annual temperature of 7.5°C. Influenced by warm currents, it is a port that does not freeze.
