Cambodia can be said to be a land of mines. During the war between the Khmer Rouge supported by China, Vietnam, and the Soviet Union, and the Lon Nol government supported by the United States, both sides laid many mines underground in Cambodia. Even today, there are still approximately 6 million landmines buried underground in Cambodia, posing a great threat to the people.

The Cambodia Landmine Museum is located in Siem Reap Province. It is said that the museum was established in 1997 by a local demining expert, Aki Ra, to educate people about the history of landmines. It is said that he personally cleared over 50,000 landmines. Witnessing the horrifying scenes of bloodshed and mutual killings among his compatriots during demining, he decided to raise funds to open the Landmine Museum, hoping to raise awareness of the dangers brought by war and landmines.

Although the museum is not very large, it leaves a deep impression on visitors, providing insight into the complex process of demining and the immense dangers posed by landmines. At the entrance of the museum, there are several cannons displayed, giving the impression of soldiers guarding the museum. Visitors will see a landmine pavilion, filled with landmines of various sizes and styles. Due to the large number of landmines, the museum also exhibits artwork made from landmines, as well as helmets, mortars, and various weapons from the civil war period, which are highly appreciated by tourists.
